UFC Fight Night Paris event is scheduled to take on September 28, 2024. It will air from Accor Arena in Paris, France. The event is also known as UFC Fight Night 243 and UFC on ESPN+ 101. The event will be headlined by a lightweight bout between Renato Moicano and Benoit-Saint Dennis. The event is set to start with prelims card at 12 PM ET with the main card starting at 3 PM ET. It will air in United States via ESPN+ streaming. UFC is holding events in Paris in the month of September since 2022. This is the third event from UFC to take place in Paris. A lightweight bout between Renato Moicano and Benoit Saint Denis was reported to headline this event.
Renato “Moicano” Carneiro, 35, is based in Coconut Creek, Florida, and trains at the American Top Team gym. Moicano is a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) and Muay Thai. The Brazilian sports a solid résumé. A former interim featherweight championship in the Jungle Fight promotion. He boasts six rear-naked choke finishes in the UFC. Moicano has fought 25 mixed martial arts fights (16 in the UFC). As the number 11 ranked UFC lightweight contender, his UFC career record reads 11 wins and five losses. He is riding a career resurgence with 5 wins from his previous six bouts.
28-year-old Frenchman Benoit “God of War” Saint-Denis is the number 12 lightweight in the world. He holds a brown belt in BJJ and a black belt in judo. He was known for his high-octane attacking style, which included powerful strikes and solid grappling. His sole UFC defeat came in a second-round TKO to Dustin Poirier. That step-up to the top-five competition proved a bridge too far at this stage of his career. Before this first loss, Saint-Denis earned a Performance of the Night in crushing Matt Frevola at UFC 295. A highlight reel head kick KO sealed the deal. Back in 2023, he also secured a Fight of the Night award in a ruthless stoppage of Thiago Moses. His overall mixed martial arts career spans 16 battles with 13 wins, 2 losses, and 1 no-contest.
These two fighters look to gatecrash the UFC top 10 and vie for a possible future title shot. Despite the unbalanced odds, this about is tough to predict. Saint-Denis is the bookmaker’s favourite to win at general odds of 4/11 (1.36 decimal odds, -275 American odds, 73.3 probability). Against his opponent at 23/10 to snatch the victory (3.3 or 230, 30.3 probability). The Poirier loss in 2024 was competitive, and there was no shame in losing to “The Diamond”. He is a worthy favourite as long as this hasn’t dented Saint Denis’ confidence. At the same time, Moicano carries a renewed confidence into the cage. Saint-Denis must be alert to Moicano’s dangerous submission skills. But we see the younger and fresher fighter using superior strength to control the action. Expect him to prevail over five pulsating rounds.
Winner of three straight, Renato Moicano is out to secure his first-ever four-fight win streak under the UFC banner to punch his ticket into the Top 10 and get closer to the ever-elusive world title shot. Over the last few years, the Brazilian bomber has really shown his personality, too, which is big if you want the mighty UFC PR machine to show you some love. When you couple that with wins, it’s a sure-fire recipe for a marketable fighter the company can get behind. With consecutive wins over Brad Riddell, Drew Dober and Jalin Turner, his next opponent is his toughest in recent memory in Benoit Saint Denis.
“God of War” was riding high heading into his pivotal bout against Dustin Poirier at UFC 299. After all, he had won five in a row, all finishes, and another victory would have likely punched his ticket to a Top 10 spot and possibly into title consideration. But “The Diamond” proved to be too much for the fighting Frenchman, ultimately finishing him in the second round via knockout , Hungry to get back into the win column, Saint Denis will come out aggressive, which is right up Moicano’s alley. If it hits the ground, that is where the action will get very interesting because both men are submission experts, with 10 of Moicano’s 19 wins coming by way of submission and nine of Saint Denis’ 13 victories came in that manner. They could very well cancel each other out in that department, so this fight will either see someone get knocked out or go the full 25 minutes. Whatever the case, we should be in for a treat.
